Vung tau transportation
By road: is a viable choice for those with a rental car or motorcycle. The route from Ho Chi Minh City is clearly marked and takes only 90 minutes. Vietnam’s largest city has a huge number of rental outlets for motorcycle hire as well as car hire with driver/guide.
By bus: is also a popular option but not as scenic as the boat trip. The journey takes about the same time and the cost is cheaper, with buses departing from Mien Dong Station. Many minivans operated by private tour companies also make the journey.
By ferry: is the most popular way of reaching Vung Tau from Ho Chi Minh City, with a hydrofoil service regularly running along the Saigon River. The journey takes under two hours, with plenty of great scenery along the way. The boats leave hourly from each direction and fronting up to buy tickets is usually no problem except on busy weekends when it is advisable to book in advance.
