For those spending quite a few days in Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau is a great place to escape to and enjoy some peace and tranquillity, particularly on week days. The water off the beaches is good for recreational activities, while the headlands are great for hiking.

Watersports are very popular at Vung Tao, with swimming, wind surfing, parasailing and boating all possible. Snorkelling around some of the points between the beaches can be rewarding, but only on calm days and when the currents are not too strong. Hon Ba also offers good snorkelling.
Wade to Hon Ba in Vung Tau activities::
Wade to Hon Ba and enjoy the treasures of this islet lying just offshore between Bai Sau and Bai Dua. The islet is accessible at low tide and is great for exploring, with many marine creatures in the shallow rocky pools. There is also an interesting temple on Hon Ba built by the fishermen to worship the goddess of the sea. Don’t enjoy yourself for too long, however, or you’ll be stuck on the island for several hours waiting for the tide to go down again!
Hiking the peninsula in Vung Tau activities:
Hiking the peninsula is lots of fun and well worth the effort for the spectacular panoramas. Both Nui Nho and Nui Lon have a network of hiking trails that lead through pleasant vegetation. There are plenty of stops with benches where you can rest and relax while taking in the scenery or observe the birdlife. There are also trails around the smaller headlands between the beaches.
A round of golf in Vung Tau activities:
At the international standard Vung Tau Golf Course, one of the most famous and popular in Vietnam. The seaside location of the course makes it very attractive, and the facilities and services are superb. After your round, relax in the clubhouse with a cold beverage or take a swim in the pool.
Enjoy nightlife: at one of the many bars and discos lining popular Bai Truoc. The nightlife scene is raging on Fridays and Saturdays, when Saigonites descend upon the town, while on Sundays and during the week the atmosphere is more laid back and relaxing.

Eating superb seafood in Vung Tau activities:
At one of the beachside restaurants is a great way to finish a morning or afternoon at the beach. The outdoor eateries are perfect for relaxing with their comfortable ambience. During the evening, diners can enjoy the sunset, watch the fishing vessels and become lulled by the gentle crashing of the waves. Fish, crabs, prawns and shellfish are all sumptuous and great value.
