Quang Ninh: Provincial leader works with VN National Commission for UNESCO


(Vietnam Visa On Arrival) On December 18th, in Ha Long city, the Vice-Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Thu Thuy chaired a meeting with the  Secretary-General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO Pham Cao Phong.
At the meeting, the Management Board of key relic zone made a brief introduction to the delegates about outstanding historical and cultural values of the complex of cultural and historical relics under Tran Dynasty in Dong Trieu and Yen Tu Relic  in Uong Bi.
For his part, the General Secretary Phong has briefed necessary procedures during preparation of the nomination file. He particularly emphasized that it is important to assess the most outstanding values of the potential heritages of Quang Ninh that strongly meet the UNESCO’s criteria.
Regarding the implementation of the World Heritage Committee’s decision concerning protection and promotion of Ha Long Bay’s values. Phong has further analyzed bad impacts affecting the bay’s environment as stated in  the UNESCO’s decision.
To conclude the meeting, the Vice-Chairman of QNPPC has requested  all relevant departments to provide the Management Board of key relic zone with all needed information serving for preparing and the nomination file that will be soon defended at the National Cultural Heritage Council. She also committed that QNPPC will hire foreign consultant and ask the VN National Commission for UNESCO for assisting Quang Ninh in competing the nomination documentation.
